Technical Specifications
- Pressure and Volume
- How pressures and volumes are stated for all HydroMax pressure washers:
- All pressure washers (gas engine or electric) have stated volume and pressure listed. These figures come from the stated figures of the pump and the pump manufacturer being used on the particular model and sub-model. Pump manufacturers provide the pumps with a stated volume and pressure at a set RPM or a stated RPM range. Flow is generated by the RPM of the pump. The faster the RPM, the higher the flow/volume. Pump manufacturers design the pumps not to exceed a stated RPM. This RPM is what they have determined will give the maximum performance and still maintain a "long life" without premature part failures. Many pump manufacturers will allow an OEM to have an alternate spec. other than the listed spec. This could be an alternate flow or pressure. The pressure is generated by forcing the flow/volume through a nozzle to generate the desired pressure. Pressure generated will be a factor of the nozzle size and the flow generated.
- The purpose of the Electric motor or Gas/Diesel Engine is provide a way to turn the pump at the desired RPM. The HP used will depend on many factors. Simply stated, the HP will be what is need to turn the pump and maintain the RPM needed without causing damage to the drive source. Example: Gas engine manufacturers will run test on a pressure washer to determine the load on the engine. They will take engine temps, RPM range, ect. At this point, they will approve the engine for that model.
- Stated pressure and volume vs "real world" conditions. The stated pressure and volumes from the pump manufacturers are accurate in exact conditions(such as a lab). The are determined using a forced inlet pressure and no eternaternal resistance on the flow. Once the pumps are installed on a complete pressure washer with all of the valves and fittings, friction and other variables will affect the efficiency of the pump. The final delivered volume and pressure could be less than what is stated for the pump. All plumbing and items after the pump will affect the efficiency of the pump.
- All efforts are made in the design of the pressure washer systems to maximize the efficiency of the pump.
